... ‘Til Sunrise is a shimmering slice of ’60s-influenced pop that’s vocally reminiscent of The Walker Brothers, complete with pithy stabs of brass, while the spirit of Elvis is raised during the rollicking Spend A Little Time , which is hip-shaking, finger-clicking good fun. There’s a retro ’70s haze surrounding the soulful funk of Shadow of Death Hotel , which could well have worked...

Source : IndieLondon (subscribe)

Explore : Artists, Jazz, Lalo Schifrin, Music, Rock and Pop

I thought I'd posted something about this several weeks ago but it turns out I was wrong: There is a new song by Arctic Monkeys' frontman Alex Turner and some bloke from the Rascals called Miles Kane - and it is an absolute belter. Together, Turner and Kane are The Last Shadow Puppets, and they sound a bit like the Walker Brothers crossed with Arthur Lee's Love. Only, you know, good....

Source : Discopop Directory (subscribe)

Explore : Love, Music, Rock and Pop

Five unnecessary letters: "Sandro Mazzola and Luis Suarez were lifting their second European Cup in the San Siro, Milan?" repeats an incredulous Ryan Anderton. "Ah, yes, that San Siro. For a second I thought you were talking about the San Siro, Stalybridge. Still, to manage to link this to two Walker Brothers songs is impressive."
