When it comes to Halo Wars and a release date the real question is what kind of push Microsoft is able to place on the game. With Halo 2 Bungie was pushed to get the game out, perhaps a bit too early, and the game suffered a bit for it. Bungie sprang back with Halo 3 , and their newly acquired pedigree gave them far more leeway with MS.
