Tom Cole dead? Not quite, but John Boehner definitely just took some advice from Bob Barker and spayed his NRCC Chair : The NRCC will now wade into competitive GOP primaries when appropriate. This is a significant shift, as Cole's policy has been to stay out of such contests even when the party believes one candidate would clearly be the best general election bet. In Illinois and Louisiana...

Source : Swing State Project (subscribe)

Explore : Feminism, House of Representatives, John Boehner, Politics, Republican Party

Sure, congressman Tom Cole may be a slick talking hypocritical neoconservative, but that's no reason for Republicans to disown him. Republican bloggers make push to replace Rep. Cole Conservative bloggers want Republican House campaign chairman Tom Cole (Okla.) replaced. - GOP leaders “have gotten comfortable and they're out of ideas,” Erickson said. “They went for 12 years in...

Source : Okiedoke (subscribe)

Explore : Conservatives, House of Representatives, Politics, Republican Party

Yesterday, House GOP leader John Boehner unveiled a series of reforms to placate the criticism he and NRCC Chair Tom Cole have been receiving since the party lost three-straight special House elections. "The two men agreed on a prescription that includes a detailed ‘audit’ -- run by GOP Reps. Tom Davis (Va.) and Pat Tiberi (Ohio) -- of the mistakes made in the three special-election losses."...

Source : First Read (subscribe)

Explore : House of Representatives, John Boehner, Politics, Republican Party

I’m sure exile will off other insights at the next opportunity but I was struck by this (my bold) given the recent special election house losses and lackluster fundraising by the NRCC. Rep. Tom Cole’s authority as head of the House GOP’s campaign committee is being curtailed in the wake of three defeats in red House [...]

Source : rochesterturning.com (subscribe)

Explore : Fundraising, House of Representatives, Politics, Republican Party

Conservative bloggers think NRCC head Tom Cole needs to be replaced, because he hasn't played enough to the GOP base. So who can they tap to replace him, who would push harder for the war in Iraq, more government-sanctioned torture, and all the rest of the GOP playbook?

Source : Firedoglake (subscribe)

Explore : Government, House of Representatives, Iraq, Politics, Republican Party

House Minority Leader John Boehner laid down the law a little with the NRCC. Sadly he left Rep. Tom Cole as the Chairman, but Boehner issued a series of directives none-the-less. Cole despite not being fired, is now nothing more than a figurehead and should resign rather than continue being emasculated.
