Sunday at Chiba, the short fangirl version (Seattle Marinerds)

It was Shunsuke Day and the Marines won 16-0, Shunsuke Watanabe throwing a complete game shutout on 88 pitches. This is definitely the most runs they've scored all year, and even one of the biggest landslides in recent team history. It was also my first time in 2 years attempting to breach the rightfield stands, but this time I had "protection". I was at the game with my friend Yayoi and her friends Mayu and Ono, and we had been introduced to the ouendan leader and some of his friends, so... we sat in the middle of all of the action, right between those black sheets that they hold up every game, and were given MVP ( Marines Victory Productions ) flags to wave. I guess that's MVP VIP treatment for you. Anyway, apparently having Shunsuke's biggest gaijin fan (and Seibu anti-fan) out in the RF stands cheering and yelling and singing spelled some kind of bizarre combination for the team to kick ass and take names and demolish their opponents. Shoitsu Ohmatsu and Jose Ortiz were the only ones to hit home runs, though, as most of the runs were scored on these doubles to centerfield that went soaring over Kuriyama. But the big deal -- to me, at least -- is that I had the guts to go up to second baseman Shunichi Nemoto before the game and ask if we could take a picture with him. I really like Nemoto. He was already my ni-gun boyfriend last year when he was the Eastern batting champ, and this year he's even better. I wouldn't be surprised if he becomes one of the most popular guys on the team by the end of the year. He seems like a nice guy, too. Yayoi actually introduced herself to Nemoto and gave him a business card. She also later traded business cards with Bobby, which was really amusing to me. I also asked lefty reliever Yusuke Kawasaki for a picture with our gang as he was coming back from signing stuff for fans. He was really friendly and funny about it. After the game I also even said hello to Yasutaka Hattori by accident in the press room. Kind of. He's very distinctive looking, and a lot cuter close up without his game face on. Seriously. (I was on my way out and saw him sitting there charting pitches for ni-gun and just blurted out, "Hattori! Oh!" So he smiled at me, and all I could think of to say was "...ganbatte kudasai?" I'm such a dork sometimes.) Anyway, I am heading to the Baystars-Swallows game tonight at Jingu, so I will have to do my writeup of both games tomorrow and during the week, but believe me, I have a lot of fun stories to tell about my experience in the rightfield bleachers, and about the game itself, which was just plain crazy.

The Street Fighter - Sonny Chiba X-RAY Head Smash (Greatest Movie Deaths of All Time)

The Street Fighter was the first movie in the States to be granted an 'X' certificate, as some scenes were pretty shocking for 1974. In this scene after Terry and Ratface's car is dropped off the bridge, Terry(Chiba) gets his revenge by beating the holy crap out of two guys. After getting one of them on his knees, he jumps and punches him directly on top of the head- the scene cuts to an X-RAY VIEW of the dude's head getting bashed in! Then it cuts back to the actual shot of the guy, who spews a mouthful of that wonderfully fake-looking Japanese stage blood. As Christian Slater said in "True Romance" when asked if Sonny Chiba was the good guy- "Well, he's not so much the good guy as he is just a bad motherfucker."

CHIBA (Kyodo) Prosecutors are expected to soon charge a former opposition lawmaker with alleged defamation of Japan's largest lay Buddhist organization, Soka Gakkai, which is the main base of support for New Komeito, the junior ruling bloc partner of the Liberal Democratic Party, investigative sources said Friday. The Chiba District Public Prosecutor's Office is likely to seek a court order for an unknown amount against Hisayasu Nagata, 38, a former House of Representatives member from the Democratic Party of Japan, in a summary procedure that skips open trial sessions at a courthouse.
