      <description>SIRTE, Libya: HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani and Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi held talks here yesterday.The talks were attended by Prime Minister and Foreign Minister HE Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor al-Thani, Chief of the Emiri Protocol HE Sheikh Mohamed bin Fahd al-Thani, Minister of Finance and Acting Minister of Economy and Commerce HE Yousef Hussein Kamal, Chief of the Emiri Diwan HE Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Saud al-Thani, the Emir’s Secretary for Follow-Up Affairs HE Saad Mohamed al-Rumeihi, Acting Director of the Premier and Foreign Minister’s office Abdullah Eid al-Sulaiti, Qatar’s Ambassador to Libya Saad Hilal al-Mohannadi and Director of the Foreign Ministry’s Arab Affairs Department Ibrahim Abdul Aziz al-Sahlawi.On the Libyan side, the talks were attended by Member of the Libyan Revolution Leadership Maj Gen Mustafa al-Kharroubi, Prime Minister Al Baghdadi al-Mahmoudi, Secretary of the People’s Committee for External Liaison and International Co-operation Abdel Rahman Shalgam, Secretary of the People’s Committee for Planning Abdel Hafiz al-Zelaiti and the Secretary of Arab Affairs at the People’s Committee for External Liaison and International Co-operation.The fraternal ties between the two countries and ways of bolstering them were reviewed, besides regional and international issues of mutual interest.Gaddafi hosted a luncheon in honour of the Emir and his accompanying delegation.Later, the Emir and the Libyan leader attended the signing of a number of memorandums of understanding, agreements and minutes of meetings.The following documents were signed:* An agreement on setting up and regulating an investment fund between Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) and the Libyan Investment Authority. * Minutes of a meeting of the founders of the Qatari-Libyan Joint Company for Investment and Real Estate Development, and of a meeting of the founders of the Libyan-Qatari Company for Real Estate and Tourism. * An agreement on an energy project between the Libyan Development and Investment Company and Barwa International.* A memorandum of understanding between the Qatari Electricity and Water Company and the Libyan Company for Foreign Investment.The agreements were signed for Qatar by Dr Hussein al-Abdullah, member of the executive board of QIA, Ghanem Saad al-Saad, executive president of the Qatari Diar Real Estate Investment Company, and Fahd Hamad al-Mohannadi, director general of the Electricity and Water Company.On the Libyan side, the agreements were signed by Hamid al-Hedairi, secretary of the Economic and Social Development Fund, Mohamed al-Yas, executive director of the Libyan Investment Authority, and Abdel Hamid Debiah, director of the Administrative Development Centres Authority.The Emir later left Libya.
