<title>Obama and Reid need to tell Daschle and Feingold to STFU (AMERICAblog)</title>
      <link>http://www.wikio.com/search/John+King?rinfoid=68487771</link>
<description>Joe was watching CNN yesterday and saw CNN's John King promoting the special report he's done on McCain called "McCain Revealed." King (who we've heard really likes McCain personally, and let's his opinion be known) said, "Among the surprises, we talked to some Democrats about McCain's reputation for having a big temper." Those Democrats are Democratic Senator Feingold and former Democratic Senate Leader Tom Daschle. King said, while both of them want Obama to win and think he would be a far better president, "both also say they think Democrats who say McCain is too volatile, too temperamental, are just wrong. And, that they think, if he wins the election... they don't want that... but these two leading Democrats say, if he wins the election, they'd be happy to work with him. They actually think he'd make a pretty good president." That's nice. On the same day the DNC is sending out messages criticizing McCain's volatile temper, Daschle and Feingold totally undercut that very argument . Not to mention, it's one of our strongest arguments against McCain, and Daschle and Feingold are busy whoring for jobs in the next McCain administration. KING (voice-over): Daschle describes McCain as emotional, visceral, yet distances himself from Democrats who say McCain is too volatile. DASCHLE: I'm not saying I'm right. All I'm saying is I don't view it as a -- as a problem. SEN. RUSS FEINGOLD (D), WISCONSIN: I'm for Barack Obama for president. And I think he has a perfect temperament to be president of the United States. But even though I feel strongly about that, I can't sit here and say that John McCain doesn't have the temperament to be the president of the United States. I frankly think he does. And I think he'd be a good president.... KING (voice-over): Maverick was the label more and more attached to McCain. And he liked it. FEINGOLD: I think he's essentially an Independent who wants to call them as he sees them. I think modus operandi is to say here's a problem, what can we do to fix it? It's time that Senators Daschle and Feingold were told to STFU or pay a serious price for supporting the enemy. Daschle screwed up, maybe he was tired, but Feingold - good God, why don't you just get on stage alongside Joe Lieberman at the GOP convention, if you like McCain so much, Senator. The Republicans wouldn't tolerate this kind of crap from their own, and this is the second time Feingold has pulled this stunt in as many weeks. Daschle should be told that no more pro-McCain statements will be tolerated, and Feingold - the man who brought us Attorney General Ashcroft, the man who talks progressive but never really actually does anything - should be told that if he opens his big mouth one more time he should kiss his committee assignments good bye.</description>

<title>John King and a Guest Blogger (All Things Anderson)</title>
      <link>http://www.wikio.com/search/John+King?rinfoid=68458187</link>
<description>After two excellent documentaries Wednesday night we had a late hour of AC360 with John King. I promised you a guest blogger tonight but first we'll do a brief overview of the program. Jessica Yellin started the night with a look at the problems with the Obama campaign (and there are many). Then Ed Henry did a Raw Politics that examined McCain's VP choices. Hilary Rosen, Joe Klein and Alex Castellanos made up the Strategy Session panel, which of course talked politics. John King was back at the magic map after the break and then talked with Bill Schnieder who is in Denver with the CNN Election Express Yourself Bus. Bill, like David Gergen, is of the opinion that Obama should choose HRC for a running mate. With age comes wisdom. That's an awful lot of red on that map, don't you think? Suzanne Malveaux was on the NYC set with John King on Wednesday night, where they reviewed their documentaries that aired earlier in the evening. Both reporters had really long days as they were also on American Morning on Wednesday promoting their specials. I've got a question for CNN (of course they won't answer). Why is it that they always send the skinny guys to cover the high wind events? Anderson Cooper, Rob Marciano, Gary Tuchman to name a few. Poor Gary planted his feet firmly trying not to be toppled by the winds. We were so pleased when one of our loyal readers agreed to write a guest post. I hope you will join me in welcoming and thanking Roonie for the time and effort she put into this article that takes a look at Anderson Cooper's favorite authors and recent reads. Hello everyone! I am thrilled to make my first official blog-post other than personal accounts, so thank you to ATA for this opportunity! As we wait during this Anderabsence, maybe some of us want to get away for a while and take some personal time. What do I do in my personal time? I drink coffee and read. (The poor student in me loves to travel, but the poor student must save her money too!) I don't know about everyone else, but I am a voracious reader. I read newspapers, magazines and enjoy most genres of books, but with school in the recent past, and coming up in the near future, my casual reading will be cut down drastically and scientific reading up immensely, so this summer is one for some major catch-up. My summer book list got me thinking about the seemingly endless amounts of books Anderson has managed to read during his insanely busy schedule. While his profession could bias his reading habits (politics, domestic and foreign affairs etc...), it's so refreshing to discover his wide reading selection and his interest in different styles and topics out there. Anderson has spoken and written about his mild dyslexia as a child, and how he had to see a special reading instructor because he was seeing some letters backwards. He wrote about how his reading instructor helped with this by encouraging him to find books that he was passionate about. As a journalist, reading and writing are of extraordinary value, so it's very cool to see how much importance these have in Anderson's life. On occasion, our favorite newsman has been caught with random objects on the '360' anchor desk. Laptop and scripts aside, the BlackBerry, papers, and every now and then, a book appears! With help from Quitty's sharp eyes, John Naisbitt's "Mind Set" was found on the anchor desk during a broadcast and even out in the Middle East Anderson was photographed reading Lawrence Wright's insightful book, "The Looming Tower." Surely he reads such texts to be more informed, but I can't help imagining that he finds them equally intriguing. On May 30, 2008 Anderson blogged prior to the Scott McClellan interview about staying up until 4am reading his book "What Happened" so that he could adequately prepare himself for the intense q/a that so caught our ears. (I couldn't even finish some of the Harry Potter books in a few days, let alone plow through a 300+ page book in a night.)Here is a montage of AC's interview with Scott. He also diligently read Jeffery Toobin's "The Nine" before interviewing him at a New York City Barnes and Noble during Jeff's book tour. He obviously took very good notes because "The Nine" is extraordinarily detailed and conducting an interview on such an expansive piece of work needs some serious preparation, and AC does us proud every time. Below is the clip. After Anderson actually wrote a book, a Pandora's box of his books of interest was opened. Writing a book comes with a great deal of interviews and publicity, and a few interesting tidbits of personal taste! "Dispatches from the Edge" was nominated for a Quill Award and while on the Red Carpet, Anderson was asked by Al Roker about who he reads for fun and enjoyment. David Sedaris and Augustin Burroughs were the two names he dropped, both extremely popular writers who are well-known for their witty satire and hilarious pieces of work. (If I could shamelessly plug them both, plus I just finished my 4th Sedaris book - and what a FANTASTIC read!) Of course, there are the written articles where they ask, "list the books on your bookshelf" or "what are your current favorites?" and in Oprah's list , Anderson's choices include the books written by his father, Wyatt and his mother, Gloria. From a family of writers and talents, it's great that he carries that legacy and allows us to understand the emotive and profound writing that they exemplified. Further in Oprah's article, he lists books with raw emotion and personal connection such as, "A Death in the Family" by James Agee and "The Quiet American" by Graham Greene. In The New York Post he lists books like, "Deceptively Delicious" by Jessica Seinfeld and "Born Standing Up: A Comic's Life" by Steve Martin. That's what's so great about books, there's something in virtually every genre that anyone can like, whether you want to feel something personal, learn something new or just laugh hysterically! Here's to great books and hopes that Anderson will write another one someday! Happy reading! Roonie So there you have it a quick look at Wednesday's AC360 and the special treat of a guest blogger. Have a great Thursday and I hope to see you back here again tomorrow. ~ Phebe All content, unless otherwise cited, is © All Things Anderson and may not be used without consent of the blog administrator.
