Good Samaritan Rescues Boater From Hudson River (WCBSTV.com: Your Source For New Yor)

A 61-year-old kayaker helped rescue a man who was seriously injured when his personal watercraft crashed on rocks in the Hudson River in Rockland County. Police in Stony Point, 40 miles north of New York City, say the 43-year-old John Thomas of Highland Falls suffered head injuries and broken bones Thursday afternoon.

Gaylord soldier dies in Iraq crash (Detroit Free Press)

A soldier from Gaylord has died in a vehicle crash in Iraq. The Pentagon says 22-year-old Army Pfc. John Thomas Bishop and another soldier were killed Wednesday in the city of Golden Hills. Bishop's father told the Traverse City Record-Eagle his son was in a heavy armored vehicle that rolled over into a canal after the side of the road gave way.
