The National Institutes of Health has bumped up the size of a grant to Winston-Salem State University from $794,000 to $1.3 million based on the school's initial success with a biomedical and behavioral sciences training program.

Gov. Mike Easley on Monday unveiled his $21.5 billion budget recommendation.
