Middle school orchestra receives top rating (Houston Chronicle)

Creekwood Middle School has earned the honor of being named the 2009 Texas State Middle School Full Honor Orchestra. Because of the award, Creekwood band and orchestra students will be featured performers in San Antonio at the Texas Music Educators Association’s Convention in February.

More than 100 students attending the New Caney Sixth Grade Campus will be in a new program that is providing gender segregated classes in four core subject areas this fall. There will be 16 classes, four each in social studies, math, science and English language arts, said Sixth Grade Campus principal Jackie Wimberly.

Humble High School has announced plans to facilitate traffic flow, student pick up and student drop off for the 2008-09 school year. There are four labeled entrances to Humble High School. Drivers should observe the following rules: • • Entrance A, during school hours, is only for faculty, kitchen personnel and deliveries entering and exiting the campus.

20-year employee grows with YMCA (Houston Chronicle)

Cezar Gonzalez never understood what a YMCA had to offer a child. He grew up in the West Texas town of Canutillo, just outside of El Paso, and wasn’t close to one. At age 42, he has spend the 20 years working with the organization, first in El Paso and now in Kingwood as the executive director of the Lake Houston Family YMCA. And his work has been noticed.

LSC-Kingwood: Auditions for musical being held (Houston Chronicle)
